Complementary Therapies

In addition to my core treatments, I offer a range of carefully selected complementary therapies designed to enhance your results and support your recovery.

These therapies work alongside Manual Lymphatic Drainage, oncology massage, pre- and post-surgery care, and holistic remedial massage to reduce swelling, improve circulation, relieve discomfort, and promote healing.

Complementary Therapies at a Glance

Each modality is chosen based on your individual needs and integrated into your treatment plan to provide safe, effective, and holistic support for your body. Many can be used as add-ons to other treatments or as standalone sessions depending on your condition and goals.

  • Compression Therapy — garment guidance and support for lymphoedema and post-surgical swelling

  • Myofascial Cupping — gentle suction to improve circulation and release tension

  • Lymphatic & Musculoskeletal Taping — kinesiology tape to support healing between sessions

  • Therapeutic Electrostatic Oscillation & Low-Level Laser Therapy — innovative therapies for deep healing

Compression Therapy

Compression therapy can play an important role in managing swelling and supporting circulation, particularly after surgery or when living with lymphoedema, lipedema, or venous insufficiency. The right compression garment helps control fluid build-up, reduce discomfort, and support your body’s healing process.

I can guide you in choosing garments that are suitable for your needs, explain how to use them correctly, and provide support in integrating them into your recovery or daily routine.

Compression is sometimes recommended alongside Manual Lymphatic Drainage and other therapies, as the combination can significantly improve outcomes for swelling and mobility. Whether you’re recovering from cosmetic or orthopaedic surgery, or managing a chronic lymphatic condition, compression support can make a meaningful difference in how you feel and function day to day.

I provide compression support in Perth to help clients manage swelling and improve circulation, whether after surgery or as part of ongoing lymphatic care.

Myofascial Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a therapeutic technique that uses gentle suction to create negative pressure on the skin and underlying tissues. This approach helps improve circulation, encourages lymphatic flow, and assists the body in releasing built-up tension and stiffness.

Unlike static traditional cupping techniques that can leave circular marks on the body, myofascial cupping involves gliding negatively pressurised cups over the body, gently lifting the tissues. Often used in conjunction with joint and muscular movement, this can ease tight muscles, reduce discomfort, and lead to an increased range of movement in areas that hold stress and tension.

Myofascial cupping can be particularly beneficial when combined with MLD or holistic remedial massage, as it enhances the overall effect of these therapies. It is also a safe and non-invasive way to support recovery, improve mobility, and leave you feeling lighter and more at ease.

My myofascial cupping therapy in Perth offers a safe, gentle way to release tension, improve circulation, and support both remedial and lymphatic treatments.

Lymphatic & Musculoskeletal Taping

Lymphatic and musculoskeletal taping is a supportive therapy that uses specialised kinesiology tape applied directly to the skin. Kinesiology taping can assist the healing of damaged tissue by encouraging lymphatic drainage and provides support to the joints and muscles without restricting range of movement. It helps reduce swelling, improve circulation, and enable rehabilitation.

Musculoskeletal kinesiology taping usually involves applying the tape with a significant stretch. The tape provides a lightweight, strong external support that helps stabilise the area to prevent further injury and speed the recovery process.

Lymphatic taping works by applying the tape to stretched skin — not by stretching the tape itself. This results in a negative pressure, slightly lifting the skin and encouraging lymphatic flow while reducing pressure on the underlying tissues. This makes it especially useful after surgery, for reducing bruising, and for managing oedema. It is very gentle, but very effective.

One of the key benefits of lymphatic taping is that it continues to work long after you leave the clinic. The tape can be comfortably worn for several days, extending the benefits of your session and providing ongoing support to your body.

I provide lymphatic and musculoskeletal taping in Perth to extend the benefits of treatment, reduce swelling, and support recovery between sessions.

Therapeutic Electrostatic Oscillation Therapy

This innovative treatment uses gentle electrostatic impulses to create deep, soothing vibrations within the tissues. Unlike other forms of massage or manual therapy, the effect reaches deep into the body without the need for heavy pressure — making it safe, comfortable, and highly effective for acute pain, soft tissue trauma, and wound treatment.

TEO therapy can help alleviate pain, reduce swelling, relax muscles, and restore blood supply. Other benefits include improved circulation, pain relief, lymphatic drainage, and oedema reduction — making it a valuable tool during recovery from injury or surgery, or for those living with chronic conditions that affect mobility or cause discomfort.

It also supports the breakdown of fibrotic tissue, which can form after surgery or long-term swelling, helping to restore function and comfort. It is indicated for lymphoedema, lipoedema, pre- and post-orthopaedic surgery, wound care, and musculoskeletal issues.

TEO can be used on its own or as a complement to other therapies such as MLD, compression support, or therapeutic remedial massage. Many clients describe the sensation as gentle and deeply relaxing, while also noticing relief from pain.

I provide Therapeutic Electrostatic Oscillation Therapy in Perth to help reduce swelling, ease discomfort, and support your body’s healing and recovery.

Low-Level Laser Therapy

Low-level laser can help stimulate the body generally (via a photo-stimulatory effect) and has a specific local effect on cells. Laser has been shown to soften scars and tissues that have become stiff due to inflammation, infection, or disease. By softening the skin and tissue, this can help lymph vessels regrow and enable improved lymphatic flow.

The RianCorp LTU-904 low-level laser is Australian approved and has been proven effective for lymphoedema, inflammation, and musculoskeletal pain. It is an infrared laser which penetrates deeply into tissue, designed to optimise lymphatic drainage and circulation, reduce swelling, accelerate recovery, soften hardened (fibrotic) and scar tissue, and improve lymphatic drainage.

It is used in conjunction with MLD, holistic remedial massage, and other therapies. It can be used with pacemakers and surgical implants, making it a highly effective and safe solution for chronic, post-surgical, or post-radiation swelling.

I provide Low-Level Laser Therapy in Perth to help soften scar tissue, reduce swelling, and support gentle healing as part of your recovery and ongoing care.

Oncology Scar Tissue Therapy — Coming Soon

I’ll soon be offering specialised oncology scar tissue therapy — safe, evidence-informed scar assessment and treatment strategies for people affected by cancer surgery and related procedures.

Scar tissue is a natural part of the body’s healing process, but it can sometimes lead to tightness, restricted movement, or ongoing discomfort. Over time, scar tissue may also form adhesions, where tissues stick together and limit mobility.

Scar tissue therapy is designed to soften and remodel scar tissue following surgery, injury, or trauma. These treatments focus on restoring flexibility to the affected area, reducing adhesions, and easing discomfort. They can also improve the overall appearance and texture of scars, making them less restrictive and more comfortable.

Scar tissue therapy is particularly helpful after traumatic cosmetic and orthopaedic surgeries and injuries. It can be used on its own or as part of a broader recovery plan, alongside MLD, compression support, or other complementary therapies.

My goal is to help you regain ease of movement, feel more comfortable in your body, and support both the functional and emotional aspects of living with scars.

Frequently Asked Questions Oncology Massage Questions

Yes — these therapies are designed to work alongside MLD, oncology massage, pre- and post-surgery care, and holistic remedial massage. I will always recommend combinations that are appropriate and safe for your individual health situation.

Kinesiology tape can be comfortably worn for several days after your session, extending the benefits of your treatment. Lymphatic taping gently lifts the skin to encourage fluid movement; musculoskeletal taping provides lightweight support to joints and muscles. I will show you how to care for it and when to remove it.

Myofascial cupping as I practise it is not painful. Unlike static traditional cupping, I use gliding cups with gentle negative pressure, which feels like a lifting sensation rather than heavy pressure. It is generally well tolerated and can be deeply relieving for areas of tension and stiffness.

Therapeutic Electrostatic Oscillation uses gentle electrostatic impulses to create vibrations deep within the tissues without heavy pressure. Most clients describe the sensation as deeply relaxing and soothing. It is safe for people with pacemakers and surgical implants.

Low-level laser is particularly effective for softening scar tissue, reducing chronic swelling, and improving lymphatic drainage. It is indicated for lymphoedema, lipoedema, post-surgical swelling, and musculoskeletal pain. It is safe to use alongside other therapies and with most medical implants, including pacemakers.
